Prominent protruding ears can be very embarassing and difficult to hide. At birth, the ears may not be fully formed and folded, resulting in ears that protrude from the side of the head and lack the usual folds. A surgical procedure, otoplasty, can correct these deformities. After surgery, the ears are protected with a head bandage for one week, followed by a night-time band for six weeks. Bruising and swelling is slight, and discomfort is minimal. Young children to adults can benefit from an otoplasty. |
